Any 2025 Admission Given Outside JAMB CAPS is Illegal – Minister of Education

Any 2025 Admission Given Outside JAMB CAPS is Illegal – Minister of Education Warns Institutions.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa, has declared that any 2025 admission offered outside JAMB CAPS portal is illegal and will not be recognised by the Federal Government.

He made this strong statement during the 2025 JAMB Policy Meeting held in Abuja, which brought together vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, and top education stakeholders from across Nigeria.

This development is a major warning to institutions and candidates, as it reinforces the Federal government’s position that all admissions must pass through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

What Is JAMB CAPS?

JAMB CAPS is an online admission platform created by JAMB to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in the admission process.

Through CAPS, candidates can:

  • Monitor their admission status
  • Accept or reject offers
  • View institutions that considered them
  • Ensure that admission is given strictly based on merit and eligibility

According to the Minister, many institutions have formed the habit of offering “backdoor” admissions or giving admission letters directly without uploading the candidates’ details to JAMB CAPS.

“Let me make it clear, any 2025 admission given outside JAMB CAPS is illegal and will not be recognised by the Ministry of Education or any federal agency,” the Minister said firmly at the meeting.

He noted that such acts violate the admission guidelines and undermine the centralised system established to curb manipulation and favouritism.
