The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has rolled out a N164 million scholarship for 2024, supporting 164 indigent students from various branches nationwide.

Professor Christopher Piwuna, Convener of the ASUU Grant, Research, and Publications Committee, shared this exciting update during a press conference on Saturday at Sa’adu Zungur University, Yuli Campus, Bauchi State.

Professor Piwuna explained that the selection process was thorough.

Two successful applicants were chosen from each of the 79 ASUU branches nationwide.

Each lucky student received a non-refundable cash award of N200,000 to help with their education costs.

The union also ensured that things were kept fair by reflecting gender balance among the beneficiaries.

Plus, they included physically challenged students to give them a better shot at tertiary education.

This was highlighted by Lawan Abubakar, the former ASUU Bauchi-Zone Coordinator, who stood in for Professor Piwuna during the event.
