UNICAL Expels Chukwuemeka, 100 Level Student for Stealing a Mobile Phone during the 2023/2024 academic session.
The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has announced the expulsion of Chukwuemeka Victory, a 100-level student in the Department of Public Health, over a confirmed case of phone theft.
According to a letter dated 14th May 2025 and signed by the University Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Chukwuka I. Icha, the student bearing Reg. No: 2024402053132F was found guilty of stealing a mobile phone during the 2023/2024 academic session.
The action follows a thorough investigation carried out by the Senate Students Disciplinary Committee (SSDC).
The committee submitted its report to the Vice Chancellor, who thereafter presented it to the University Senate for deliberation.
The statement reads in part:
“Arising from the above, Senate has approved the recommendation of the Senate Students Disciplinary Committee (SSDC) that you be expelled from the University for phone theft.
You are hereby expelled from the University of Calabar with effect from the 2023/2024 academic session.”
The university further directed the Provost, College of Medical Sciences, the Head of Department (Public Health), and the Chief Security Officer to ensure strict compliance with the expulsion order.
